Ellen Lorraine Smith

Ellen Lorraine Smith, age 77, formerly of Newark, passed away on May 30th after a brief illness. Ellen was born April 21st, 1947 in Red Oak, Iowa, to William H. Harper and Iola (Hite) Harper. She was the youngest of four children. Her family moved to Newark in 1953, where Ellen attended local schools, including Newark High School and, later in life, the University of Delaware. She married Michael T. Smith in 1964 and together they raised their three daughters. Ellen enjoyed reading, cooking, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. 

 

Ellen is predeceased by her former husband Michael, her brothers Bob L. Harper and William E. Harper, and her sister, JoAnne Harper. She is survived by her three daughters, Michelle Brymer, Dawn Smith, and Karen Smith, and eight grandchildren: Emily and Devin Brymer, Cameron Smith, Macie Caputo, Abbie Caputo, Ryan Caputo, and Collen and Megan Levering.

A private cremation was held.
