Donald Leroy Shope, Sr., of Chase Maryland, passed away on March 6, 2025, at Perry Point VA Hospital. He was born on July 25, 1944, to the late Leroy Franklin Shope and Cora Ellen Shope (nee, Johnson).

Donald was a man of many interests he loved shooting pool and being around friends. He loved his family and was incredibly passionate about being in the Marine Corps where he proudly and bravely served our country.

​

Donald was preceded in death by his son Donald Jr. who he loved deeply.

He is survived by his loving wife, Constance Shope; daughters, Nina Freund (Justin), Sara Bender (Brandon); grandchildren, Cove, Seth, Madison, Chase, and Bentley; sisters, Gussie Salmon (Jeff), the late Dot Rose and the late Barbara Shope; brothers, the late Jim Shope, Sr. ( Carol Sueck ), the late John Schaeffer (Marleen),  along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday March 13, 2025 from 5:00PM – 6:00PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 121 Bennett Rd, Essex, MD 21221. Following the visitation, a funeral service honoring Donalds life with be held starting at 6:00PM.
