David Zeth Correll

July 29th, 1950 - June 26th 2024

David Zeth Correll, of Newark, DE, passed away surrounded by family on June 26th, 2024. He
was born in Wilmington Delaware on July 29 th , 1950, to Jacob Alvin and Virginia Lee Correll
(nee, Mitchell).

David was a laid back yet charismatic man. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his
wife, children and grandchildren. He was a man of many interests including participating in the
Delaware State Grange since 1967, where he was the State Grange Prince in 1969; watching
the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles; boating and crabbing and spending time at his family’s
shack on the Indian River; sitting on his porch watching birds (his favorite bird was the eastern
blue bird); playing board games and Uno with his family and collecting records and listening to
music. David was in the National Guard for nine years and it was important to him to support
the military.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Claudette (Mc Millan) Correll; children, David Zeth
Correll, Jr. and Kathleen Claudia (Correll) Plourde; grandchildren, Simone Bernadette Plourde
and Claudia Patrice Plourde; siblings, Marjorie (Correll) Sample, Sandra (Correll) Ruckman,
Jacob Correll III, James Correll, Janet (Correll) Wallen and Linda Lambert and a host of nieces
and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Correll and George
Mitchell Correll.

Now David can fly free like the birds he loved so much. His calm and loving spirit will truly be
missed. David always brought the best peace- the greatest way to honor his legacy is to treat
all people with love, respect and kindness.

A private cremation was held. A memorial service honoring Davids’s life will be held at a later
date and at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made in his honor to the Fund for
the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn, which supports cancer research, and to the Cornell Lab
of Ornithology, which funds bird conservation efforts.
