Robert Benjamin Lynch, Sr.

December 16th 1949 - May 18th, 2023

Robert Benjamin Lynch, Sr., died unexpectedly May 18th, 2023, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. He was born in Elkton, Maryland, to the late Laurence B. Lynch and Dorothy A. Lynch (nee, Fogle)                    


Robert was a well known and loved community member. He served his country in 729th Battalion of the National Guard stationed at the Amory in Havre De Grace Maryland. Robert retired from Union Hospital as Superintendent of Maintenance

. During his retirement he worked as a mail carrier for the Cecil Whig. He was a Free Mason at the Union Lodge No. 48 in Elkton, Maryland. Robert was a man of many interests including collecting knives and watches. He loved animals, cooking, the home shopping network and most importantly he loved his family and friends.  

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Lynch and brother, Richard Lynch.

He is survived by his children; Doug & Brenda Jones, Robert & Amanda Lynch Jr., Chris & Tara Jones, Laurence & Angelina Lynch. He was the loving grandfather of Luke Jones, Christie Jones, Kaitlyn Jones, Christopher Butler, Amanda Butler, Kacy Lynch, Trey Lynch, Anthony Jones, Andrew Jones, Lauren Lynch, and Ashlee Grant. Robert was also the dear brother of Brenda “Petey” Berry & her husband Ralph and Linda Maun & her husband Larry, and the late Richard Lynch.

A graveside service will be held honoring Robert at Elkton Cemetery in Elkton Maryland on May 27th, 2023, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation in Roberts name to the Alzheimer’s Association mailed to 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. or online at
